Corrections

Media Remarks corrects its mistakes openly. This page explains what counts as an error, how to report one, and how we publish fixes. It applies to all sections, including headlines, captions, graphics, Video summaries and social distributions under our control.

What we correct

We correct factual errors: wrong names, dates, figures, scores, quotations, attributions, locations, and mischaracterisations of evidence. We clarify ambiguous wording that could mislead a reasonable reader even where no single fact is wrong. We update developing stories as verified information replaces early incomplete accounts, preserving a fair record of change. Matters of opinion, emphasis or story selection are not corrections, though we welcome reasoned challenge through Contact.

How to report

Use the Contact form or email [email protected]. Include the headline, URL, publication date if known, the exact passage at issue, what you believe is correct, and the primary source or document that proves it — an official record, dataset, transcript, journal article or direct statement. Identify your relationship to the subject if relevant. Anonymous reports are welcome and judged on evidence. Do not include sensitive personal data beyond what the correction requires.

How we handle reports

The responsible desk reviews the claim against its sources and, where needed, seeks the subject’s response. Straightforward errors with clear primary evidence are fixed promptly. Contested matters take longer; we will acknowledge receipt and explain delay rather than ignore the request. If we confirm an error, we amend the article, adjust any repeated instance in headlines, summaries or captions, and add a correction note where the error was material to understanding. Minor typographical slips that could not mislead are fixed without a note. If we conclude the reporting was accurate, we will explain the basis briefly.

Updates versus corrections

News changes. A later official revision, a final score replacing a live account, or a study correction notice will be incorporated as an update, with timing made clear in the text. A correction, by contrast, acknowledges that what we published was wrong at the time. We do not silently delete published articles to hide errors. Removal is reserved for legal necessity, safety risk or wholesale unreliability, and where an article is removed we aim to leave a transparent notice unless prohibited from doing so.

Images, video and data

Mislabelled images, wrong credits and broken or misattributed embeds are errors and will be fixed or replaced. If imagery breaches our decency or licensing standard, we replace it and note the change in our internal log. Data visualisations and figures are checked against their cited sources; transcription errors are corrected with the same openness as text errors.
