How You Can Promote Your Band’s Local Gig
Share This

You’re in a band, and you’ve practiced in enough garages and spoken with enough managers to get a starting gig. That’s one of the biggest and hardest first steps for any upcoming band, but what do you do now that you have this opportunity? There are many good ways to promote your band’s local gig to garner extra attention and hopefully get more people talking about your music.

Get on Social Media

Social media is an invaluable tool for promoting yourself or your content. Creating sound reels for apps like TikTok or Twitter can create a lot of positive buzz around your sound. You can use these platforms to raise awareness of your show and let people know where they can hear you perform live. Try making community posts on Facebook in groups around your area. It’s a great way to drum up local interest from people browsing events and looking for exciting new things to do.

Have Merchandise

Getting your band logo on T-shirts or other merchandise is a surprisingly great way to promote your band’s local gig. T-shirts are basically free walking advertisements for your band, and you can sell them to people who attend the show. One of the best ways to make custom shirts for your band is by applying heat transfer vinyl on some blank shirts. Consider advertising a raffle or some other giveaway for a free T-shirt at your show, and many people will show up for the chance to win.

Use Physical Advertising

Many people assume that all advertising is online these days. Don’t be afraid to do things the old-fashioned way and hang up some fliers around the neighborhood or at your future venue spot. Advertising where your band is performing is a great way to make an impression on the establishment’s regulars, who may come out that night to attend the show. Stapling some fliers to telephone poles around the neighborhood may not be as far-reaching as social media, but it can do a lot to attract local attention, which is what you need when performing smaller gigs.
