Liverpool have suffered a huge injury blow with Mohamed Salah returning early from the African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.
The Egyptian played in the first two group stage games for his country at the tournament, but he was substituted in the second with a hamstring injury.
It was initially predicted that Salah could be absent for around 10 days, but the situation appears more serious as per manager Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking today, Klopp said that Salah has returned to the club for treatment and could be involved again if he is fit before the final next month.
He said after the 4-0 Premier League win over Bournemouth away: “If he is fit before the final then probably he will go back to the AFCON.”
The news is a worry for the Reds, who have struggled against top half opposition. They need Salah to become fit as soon as possible.
Liverpool are top of the league with a five-point advantage, but they must improve results against teams around them to lift the title.
