Manchester United are reportedly battling Aston Villa in the race to sign Napoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo this summer.
The Red Devils are expected to invest in the right-back department with Aaron Wan-Bissaka touted to leave at the end of the season.
Wan-Bissaka’s deal was extended until June 2025 with a clause, but there are no plans to discuss a fresh contract with him at the moment.
This could lead to his departure in the next transfer window and Il Mattino claim that United and Villa are contenders to land his services.
The Red Devils remain a lucrative destination despite their league woes, and they should be optimistic of signing Di Lorenzo ahead of Villa.
The Italian is already 30 years of age, but he would still be a strong competitor to Diogo Dalot for the right-back position next term.
Di Lorenzo has scored two goals and provided seven assists for Napoli this term.
He only signed a new contract last summer, but he is now eyeing a new challenge elsewhere after their poor league title defence.
